Health Ministry
Providing useful information and services to help with healthy life choices
Read MoreOur Health Ministry has a multi-faceted approach. Monthly articles through our newsletter, and available through email, offer tips and information on health topics. Some from the concerns of current events, others out of the interest and questions from the perishers. Links also are available to our District Health Ministry, and of course the LCMS Synod web-site, health ministry in the “Mercy” emphasis.
Periodically we offer and arrange health services from licensed organizations such as Lifescan, Hospice, and Elder Care.
Quarterly talks are offered from Palomar Health, and notices are provided for workshops and speaker presentations in the area, many free or low cost. Don’t forget to look for our annual Health Fair held on our campus. Vendors and professionals in the industry come out to share and to show the latest going on in their local areas of expertise.

Armed Forces Ministry
Caring for our military families both active and veteran
Read MoreWe love, support, encourage and pray for our military men, women, and families, both active and veteran. Many of our members and Preschoolers are military or veteran. San Diego County is a Military community.
Through the Marine Corp “Unit Adoption” program, the City of Poway has adopted 1st LAR Bn out of Camp Pendleton. As a part of the Poway Community, we join in focusing our efforts there, but certainly we do not forget our neighbors here at Miramar and North Island.
At 1st LAR we provide snacks and refreshments as well as conversation and company to families waiting for soldiers to return from deployment, and join in the welcoming home of these sons and daughters, husbands and wives.
We help with deployments, special events, family days, and Christmas celebrations with our soldiers and families.
Some financial assistance is also sometimes offered through our tax deductible Military family assistance fund.
At the VFW post, we join and share in fellowship and conversation with the veterans, and learn from their stories and use these to help those returning home today. Also in support of 1st LAR, the VFW has helped with care packages to deployed servicemen, and supplying meals to all on Veterans Day.
The local Fleet Reserve is often a hangout for Pastor Bill and Elder Dan on “Taco Thursdays” Here again, we join in the comadery and the lives of those who gather. Special commemorative services are held for Veterans Day and Memorial Day and Flag Day. An annual flag retirement and thank you to our veterans are held at the preschool on the Friday morning preceding Memorial day. Many local government officials and community leaders come out for this very moving event.
We would love to do more, but to do more, we need more. Will you help? Contact the church office for more information.
